Sophie and Rose
Published in School & Library Binding by Candlewick Press (October, 1998)
Authors: Kathryn Lasky and Wendy Anderson Halperin
Average review score:

Truly Wonderful Book!
This book quickly became a favorite in our house, my four girls love to have it read over and over, and they love to read it themselves and look at the pictures. They story is so sweet, and the illustrations are beautiful. I recommend this book for everyone, but especially for adults who have had that one special doll in their past, and for children who have that special doll now.

A modern day Velveteen Rabbit!
A truly touching story, brought to life with delightful illustrations from Wendy Anderson Halperin, about the special bond between a child and a treasured toy. As a collector of children's books, this one is a winner and will be treasured for years to come.

The simple pleasures of loving a doll
My seven year old and I sat down to read this book. It brought back memories of the little dolls that I had loved. The wear and tear on the little doll did not matter to Sophie. No matter what happen to Rose, Sophie loved her. The illustrations were wonderful. My little girl loved to follow the boxes around the edge. Everytime we read it, she discovers something new. I bought this book for her to keep and share with her children someday.

Sugar Ray

Great Book On A Great Champion
Sugar Ray Robinson was One Of THe Greatest Fighters Ever.Very Uplifting of How He Overcame SO Much.He was a Great Warrior Inside of The Ring.Muhammad Ali called Him The Greatest.A Must Have.

Tap Dancing, Boxing, Money for Sugar Ray Robinson
This book was great. It is 378 pages, or something like that, with a forword and afterword by Dave. Lots of pictures, one with Sugar Ray at his restraunt in New York. Also has a list of all his fights and what happened, if it was a knock out, win, loose, draw. At one part he is in England, and his car is causing a traffic jam on the street because so many people have heard of him and want to see his car! And the desk clerk says to him, "Mosure Robinson, the police are here to you." He goes up to them, and they tell him that his car is causing a traffic jam and to move it! No one can get through!

A far greater excuse for a screenplay than "Raging Bull"
First read "Sugar Ray" in 1970, as a student in high school and back then i read it two times. I can still recall the illustration by LeRoy Neiman on the original cover. To this present day the most influential reading in my life, along with David Halberstam's "The Reckoniing

Texas on the Plate
Published in Hardcover by Shearer Pub (April, 2002)
Authors: Terry Thompson-Anderson, Ralph Smith, and Bob Parvin
Average review score:

Texas Culinary Explosion
Terry Thompson-Anderson has produced a marvelous collection of Texas recipes, beautiful photos of food and scenery from around the Lone Star state, and a wonderful contribution to the exciting new Texas cuisine that is sweeping the southwest and beyond. As a native Texan I found the book not only a delight to the eyes, but a wondrous and far-ranging assortment of recipes with ingredients and influences from all over the state. Of special note are such heady entrees as the "Slow-Smoked Quail on Savory Bread Pudding withThree-Chili Sauce" (using Scamorza Cheese from the Mozzarella Company in Dallas) and the "Grilled Medallions of Venison Backstrap with Ancho Chili and Honey Sauce" - fabulous! Throughout there are wine recommendations from the growing number of Texas wineries; definitions of cooking terms and ingredients; and a "Texas Cook's Pantry" telling where to find hard-to-get ingredients. Texas on the Plate is a delight to use and a pleasure to read.

A Fabulous Gift
The recipes are wonderful and the book itself full of gorgeous photos, drawings and, in general, just wonderfully produced. I'm buying several for Christmas gifts for out-of-state relatives and friends. I'm new to the state and this is a fabulous introduction to the food and customs.

Definitely goes "beyond bbq and chili" to wonderful fusion of the traditional and the most up-to-date. You will not be sorry you bought this.

Wow!
This is a beautiful cookbook! Even if you have lived in Texas your whole life, you will see places you haven't glimpsed. Having been born in Texas and raised on the variety of foods available here, I love how these recipes take it to a higher level. The recipes are perfect...though not always easy, they are always worthy of the effort. I made the cover dish first thing and got raves from all who ate it. I love the way she pairs the Texas wines with each meal. And she tells so much about Texas...research well done!

Thank You, Sarah : The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing (01 October, 2002)
Authors: Matt Faulkner and Laurie Halse Anderson
Average review score:

A great biography/historical fiction piece
An amazing biography!! Sarah's life is turned into a superhero-like story that is really interesting. All the details of her life are left out, only leaving the most important and exciting information. Anderson addresses issues children can identify with and uses plenty of exciting words like secret weapons and superhero. The illustrations are full of humor, wit, and extensions of historical information. The story has humor and suspense, something very different from traditional biographies.

Simply Wonderful!
This is one of the finest books in the holiday cannon ever. The prolific heroine will inspire readers of all ages seeking to learn about the making of an American tradition. The historical veracity, pithy writing and imaginative artwork afford classic status to this one. Bravo, Sarah!

Thank You Sarah review
I read Thank You Sarah for a project for the Waukazoo library. I thought it was a good because it is about Thanksgiving and I think Thanksgiving is a special holiday. I think kids 9 years old or younger would enjoy this book in the 3rd grade. I recommend this book.

I Learned some about horses
David, and avid horse lover and one of the five kids volunteering at Wild At Heart Animal Clinic finds a new opportunity to get into Quinn's Stables after a past mishap that left him out for good--or so he thought. David meets up with a horse named Trickster and the two of them instantly get along. Trickster has an injured leg, and David wants to help out--provided he gets to ride Trickster when the horse gets better. But David's plan backfires when he gets Trickster hurt worse and almost causes Brenna to fall off a horse. Mr. Quinn has banned David from coming back, that is until Mr. Quinn's own horse, Starfire gets sick with an unknown disease. When Trickster and three other horses get the same disease--cantharidin--David knows he must help at all costs. But will Trickster survive? I liked this book a lot--this series just seems to keep building up and getting better. The book also has a section in the back on the history of horses and how to behave around a horse.

I liked this book
I liked Trickster a lot and I want to read a lot more wild at heart books!

Wild at Heart

The US Healthcare Dilemma : Mirrors and Chains
Published in Hardcover by Auburn House (July, 1999)
Authors: Michael T. McGuire and William H. Anderson
Average review score:

awsome book
This book rocks! Everyone should read especially stupid politicians who let our health system be the way it is.Besides Mr. anderson is very smart- smartest guy i know anyway! :)

Very informative and beneficial to everyone
Should be on the Best seller lis

An authoritative and fierce assessment of our medical mess.
The authors are eminent and accomplished physicians associated with several of the outstanding medical institutions in the world. They focus their attention with a a kind of brutal humane sympathy on the manner in which our medical system has become entwined in games of technology rather than styles of care, in the organization of cashflow rather than the movements of patients to health. They show how easily third-party payments become a form of "big-brother is watching you" except that the brother is a miserably small-minded accountant or share analyst. This is at once a heart-breaking book because of the awful reality it so fairly documents. But it is also reassuring that two skilled practitioners can so clearly and productively document what is happening in medicine, and also what can be done about it. It could well be required reading for medical students and hospital administrators - and patients with a sense of self-defence!

What My Cat Has Taught Me About Life: Meditations for Cat Lovers

Bite Size Pieces
I enjoyed this book very much! It's filled with lots of sweet short stores, both touching and funny, that you can read and chew on all day. If you like cats you'll love this book!

A must for anyone in the middle of a nervous breakdown
My sister sent me this book for my birthday and it is the nicest gift I've received. And the cover art is a dead ringer for my best friend! I am currently on disability following a nervous breakdown, and this book has given me great comfort. Simple, pleasant and thoughtful reading. It truly is a book of meditations for cat lovers. Please ... buy this book and/or send it to anyone who could use some spiritual and humorous relief.

A sensitive way of viewing life...
Being a cat-lover and having read many books about cats, it was with great delight that I read this absolutely different piece of reading!! The idea of transfering experiences with cats to human beings transforms every story into a trip to our most intimate feelings... It is one of the most beautiful books I`ve ever read! I wish I could publish it here in Brazil... Many Brazilian cat-lovers who don`t know English would be able to enjoy it too... Thank you for the wonderful moments I had.

Totally Tarot: How to Be a Tarot Detective
Published in Paperback by Rose International Publishing, Inc. (May, 2001)
Author: Vikki Anderson
Average review score:

Wonderful!
Totally Tarot provides the reader with a comprehensive resource and easy-to-follow guide to the ancient symbolism of the Tarot. It is clear that Rev. Vikki has years of experience with and intimate knowledge of this system. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to stimulate his or her intuition toward greater insight and creativity.

Excellent - Read This Book On Tarot Before Any Other
Awesome. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the tarot. A true teacher, Ms. Anderson transforms a potentially confusing subject into an exciting journey, explaining WHY each card has a particular meaning, as opposed to other books which just TELL you without explanation. I will forever refer to this book for solid answers. She touches upon crystals, colors and astrology in an easy-to-understand way, and of course, explains the WHY behind everything she writes about. Very inspirational.

THE ONLY TAROT BOOK YOU SHOULD USE
I AM THE OWNER OF A METAPHYSICAL BOOKSTORE AND IT IS THE ONLY BOOK ON TAROT I WILL RECOMMEND.

Unknown Rider
Published in Paperback by Dennoch Pr (December, 1995)
Authors: Scott Anderson and Andrea Dwyer
Average review score:

An Insight into Air Force Pilot Training
Scott Anderson gives a very accurate depiction of the rewards and hardships of air force pilot training. It's written in third person but clearly is autobiographical. It spans from his being a civilian to earning his wings and becoming an F-16 pilot. It's very enjoyable and a must-read for anyone considering a career in military aviation. Tragically, Capt. Anderson was killed last year in a plane crash.

A great definition of fighter pilot life
Unknown Rider is the greatest book I have ever read. I have read it four times and still enjoy it. I would recommend it to anyone who is eager about aeroplanes. Scott Anderson is a great writer and really captures the life of a fighter pilot and makes you feel as if you are there. At 12, this book will stay with me for life.

It took me soaring through the clouds!
The book provides an insider's view into the world of the military jet fighter pilot but it isn't just a bunch of technical jargon. The author has a great ability to convey the sense of adventure and wonder involved with becoming a jet pilot. This is a great read for flying buffs and anyone who wants to stay on the ground but learn what its like to soar through the clouds. The author's book "Distant Fires" offers adventure of another kind tracing a canoe trip from Lake Superior to Hudson Bay -- replete with humerous observations on life in general. I recommend it as well.

Unlocking the Mysteries of Sensory Dysfunction: A Resource for Anyone Who Works With, of Lives With, a Child With Sensory Issues
Published in Paperback by Future Horizons (April, 1996)
Authors: Elizabeth Anderson and Pauline Emmons
Average review score:

Basic and non-technical
Easy reading. Covers typical and atypical behavior of infants, toddlers, preschool and school age. Touched on ways children with these behaviors can disrupt home and school activities. The key is early intervention. Written more for parents of children who have significant SID issues.

children with autism, sensory issues
This is a great book. I wish this was the first book I had read after my son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. This book will help you get your kid and your family through the day. I already read "The Out of Sync Child" but found this book really put sensory integration into layman's terms that a parent could understand. It also reads fast but has a huge amount of targeted information in it. If you need fast help with a hard to manage kid who is getting OT or PT or is on the spectrum, this book is for you.
Bless Liz and Pauline for taking the time to write this.

A terrific no nonsense explaination of Sensory Dysfunction
Great, easy to read for parents and others that have SID children in their life. Highly recommended that parents have teachers, friends, relatives read this to help them understand that our children are in need of gentle support for their needs. Really helped me understand the relative dysfunction that my child has. Gave me hope that with a little education and help from OT we can work on making my childs life much better. It won't be easy, the authors are very honest. No-nonsense, reality based from two mothers of SID children.
Another great recommendation is The Out of Sync Child.
